What is Leadpages?

Good converting landingpages are indispensable for your business. Whether you sell digital products or physical products; leadgeneration is a must!

Building the best landingpages is something you can do with Leadpages.

Leadpages is (originally) a landingpage builder, but offers way more tools nowadays. You can think of:

  • Build whole websites
  • Alert Bars
  • Pop-up forms
  • Opt-in text messages
  • Checkout funnels

And the list goes on and on, which you can check here!

Their slogan is not for nothing:

Leadpages helps small businesses connect with an audience, collect leads, and close sales. Easily build websites, landing pages, pop-ups, alert bars, and beyond.

How does Leadpages work?

As mentioned earlier, you use Leadpages mainly for building landingpages.

But how does the main function (landingpages) of Leadpages work?

Well, I can write down a whole step-by-step tutorial, but I can also show you this video from the YouTube channel Yes to Tech.

I used the same video to build my own landingpages on one of my websites, with great succes!

As you can see in the video: when you sign up for Leadpages, they will take you through some questions. You can see it as some sort of wizard.

Based on the answers you give on the different questions, Leadpages comes up with different types of landingpage templates.

This is a nice option to use, because the template library of Leadpages is very large. Skipping through all these templates takes a lot of time, so you might save some when you use the wizard.

Other Leadpages features

After watching the video, you should have a global idea on how Leadpages works.

But building landingpages is not the only thing you can do with Leadpages. Let's discuss some other nice features.

Alert bars

One of the cool features from Leadpages is the ability to make mobile-friendly alert bars. This way you can promote a sale, create opt-ins, gather leads, make an announcement, send traffic to other pages and so on.

Alert bars are fairly easy to setup and to customize, but also easy to connect with your e-mailmarketing tool (for instance)

Many websites make use of alert-bars, because it is catchy and (often) less anoying than pop-ups.

Pop-ups

Another cool option is the ability to build pop-ups, based on triggers and behaviour. Just like alert-bars, this is a nice way to lift conversions.

Although I'm not a big fan of pop-ups, they do tend to work very well. Many website use them for this reason.

With Leadpages, you can easily build pop-ups and publish them different pages. Customizing them is easy and (kinda) endless.

What problem does Leadpages solve?

Every tool that has ever been invented solves some kind of problem. This is also the case with leadpages.

If you have every build and optimized a landingpage by hand (without a tool), you should know how time consuming this is.  This is one of the main problems that Leadpages solves with it's software.

It is easy to handle and saves you a lot of time. This way you can focus on the right things, which is gaining more traffic, more leads and more customers.

Leadpages helps small businesses connect with an audience, collect leads, and close sales. Easily build websites, landing pages, pop-ups, alert bars, and beyond.

What I like about Leadpages

Now you know what Leadpages is, what cool features they offer, how it works and what problems it solves, let's focus on some other Unique Selling Points (USP's).

As you may know, Leadpages is one of the most popular landingpage builders and they serve over 40.000 customers worldwide. This huge clientbase is not without a reason.

I would like to show what I personally like and don't like about Leadpages. I try to be as transparant as possible, because I want to give you the right advice.

What I like
  • Leadpages is very user-friendly, thanks to the drag & drop function. Even your grandmother can build landingpages!
  • In the world of landingpage builders, Leadpages is one of the cheapest. That can be a major plus for a lot of small or medium enterprises.
  • Leadpages has a lot of built-in integrations with other systems and tools. You can think of Google Analytics,  several ad platforms, payment providers and about 140 other tools. Check all integrations here
  • Also, Leadpages offers unlimited traffic, leads, landing pages, pup-ups and alert bars with every plan. This is quite unique compared to other landingpage builders.
  • Next to the many unlimited features they offer, Leadpages also offers more extra features. The list is very big, so take a look at it here!

What I don't like about Leadpages

After using Leadpages for quite some time, I found out some things about Leadpages that I don't like.

These things do not detract from Leadpages, but are some things I would like to see different. I also try to be transparant as possible, so it's good information to consider when you're going to purchase Leadpages.

What I don't like
  • Although many things are customizable, not everything is. You can think of certain fonts or the option to customize columns on landingpages. Other, more expensive tools, do have these abilities.
  • In my opinion (and many others) the support should and could be better. With the cheapest plan, you'll only get support by e-mail. This is where other tools do it better.
  • The option to A/B test your landingpages is not available on the cheapest plan. This can be a highly valuable option for some companies, but they need to get a more expensive plan to make use of this.

When is the ideal moment to start with Leadpages?

Building landingpages and collecting leads is something you do, when (a lot of) people visit your website. No visitors will also mean that you can't offer anything with your landingpages. Main point is that you need visitors!

Also keep in mind that Leadpages is a paid tool. So to get the most out of your buck, it's recommended to start using Leadpages when you have a minimum of 50 visitors per day.

It's not set in stone, but I feel comfortable paying for a tool with this number of daily visitors.

Leadpages plans & pricing

Just like any other tool, Leadpages offers several plans and payment options.

You have the choice between three plans and two types of payment. The plans being: Standard, Pro and Advanced and the payment being monthly or annual.

The annual payment is very interesting, because you'll get a 39% discount on the total price. This way, you can start with Leadpages for only $25 per month.

In the table below you can find all the plans and the features for each plan.

Later on in this Leadpages review I will show you the differences per plan and when to choose which plan.

What are the differences per plan?

As you can see, each plan Leadpages offer also has more features that the previous plan.

The main differences between the 3 plans are:

The amount of websites you can "connect", using online payments on your leadpages, the support you get and the integrations. Nothing more, nothing less.

Which Leadpages plan is suitable for you?

Choosing the right plan is important, because you wan't the right features for your personal situation.

The plan you need depends on the number of websites you want to run, what kind of support you need and the things you want to do with Leadpages (like A/B testing)

With 1 website, low level of support and no A/B testing, Standard is a good choice. If you have more website or you want more support and options, you should choose the Pro or Advanced plan.

For instance: I make use of the Pro plan, but only for 1 website. The reason I use the Pro plan is because I want to A/B test everything and also (sometimes) I want more tech support.

Leadpages free trial

Jut like a lot of tools, Leadpages does offer a 14 day free trial!

When you choose a plan, you have the option for a 14 day free trial. So when you're starting with Leadpages, your payable plan goes in after 14 days.

If you don't like Leadpages, you should cancel your subscription before the 14 days end.

Summarized

At this point, you should've learned the following things:

  • What is Leadpages?
  • How does Leadpages work?
  • What I like and don't like about Leadpages
  • When to start with Leadpages
  • Plans & pricing and which plan is suitable for you

I've covered all these topics in my Leadpages review, except for my final verdict and a special bonus for you.

Conclusion: Leadpages review

As you can read, I'm a fan of Leadpages.

The price they charge for their product is very low, but it also lacks some customisation options and support (for the lower plans).

I would recommend Leadpages as a landingpage builder for small businesses or companies that are just starting with building landingpages.

There are beter options available, if you got a larger budget and need more features/customisation options (like Instapage for instance).
