KWfinder Review and 2021 Guide – The best keywordtool

A guide, the pro's and con's, alternatives and a surprise at the end..

First of all: Thank you for visiting my KWFinder review!

You're probably about to invest in KWFinder, because you're reading my review. Because I use this keywordtool on a daily basis, it sounds right to write this in-depth review and help you make the right decision.

But why should you listen to me?

Well, let me answer that really quick. As you might have noticed, I've been active in the online marketing world since 2013. In the past few years I've tested a lot of tools, including KWFinder. The reason I've wrote this review is pretty simple: This tool is only one of the few tools I use on a daily basis. It is cheap, does everything I need from a keywordtool en generates a lot of data. More on that later.

Getting to find the right keywords is a crucial step in writing the best content. Keywords say something about the intention of people and this is something you can make use of with SEO or SEA. The main goal here is to attract the right kind of audience. And that's where KWFinder comes in!

What are you going to learn in this KWFinder review?

In this in-depth review, you're going to learn the following things:

  • What is KWFinder?
  • What do you use KWFinder for?
  • How do you use KWFinder?
  • What I like and don't like about KWFinder
  • Which alternative tools are available?
  • And last but not least a surprise at the end

In case you get any questions, please feel free to ask them in comments section at the bottom of this page. Let's begin!

What is KWFinder?

KWFinder, part of Mangools, has been around since 2014 (about 6 years).

Mangools is not only known for KWFinder, but also from tools like SERPChecker, LinkMiner and SERPWatcher

All these tools are aimed at specific SEO elements and are added to the product product offer after 2014.

With KWFinder you can find and analyze keywords. This is a very important task, because you want to focus your content on the right keywords.

Preferably you'll find keywords with the right intent, (relatively) high volume and low Keyword Competition. KWFinder helps with finding these gems!

What do you use KWFinder for?

If you look at KWFinder, and what you can use it for, I've found 3 different ways which i've used this amazing tool:

  1. You use it to find different types of keywords, including historical searchvolumes, current volumes, other keyword suggestions and keyword difficulty.
  2. You can use it to find out how your competitor are being ranked and on what keywords. You can think of domain authority, page authority, the number of backlinks and so on.
  3. Or you can even use it to find local keywords. With every search you do, you can also select a location to find keywords that people use at certain locations.

Ofcourse KWFinder has more cool things you can use and discover, but in my case the 3 features above are the ones I use the most.

Disclosure: Please note that some of the links on this page are affiliate links and at no additional cost to you, I’ll earn a commission. Know that I only recommend products and services I’ve personally used and stand behind. When you use one of my affiliate links, the company compensates me, which helps me run this blog and keep all of my in-depth content free of charge for readers like you.

How do you use KWFinder?

KWFinder is a very easy to use and self explanatory. The design is simple and straightforward en does not contain any unnecessary elements.

In the example below, you will see how easy KWFinder works. I will walk you through the tool by using a Dutch example of one of my sites. This way I can show you the most important features.

Example: I have a Dutch blog about dogs and doggy products. If I want to write a blog about dogbaskets (hondenmand in Dutch), the first thing I do is gather keywords. In literally 2 steps, I can find the right keywords. What I do is:

I grab the tool, search for the keyword “dogbasket” and (possibly) a country and language and click on "Find Keywords". That’s it!

how does kwfinder work

Following these simple steps will show you a list with (potentially) hundreds of keywords, the searchvolumes per keyword, keyword difficulty and even the CPC and competition within Google Ads.

You also get a clear overview of which websites also rank on that same keyword, including domain authority, page authority and so on. This is really valuable.

It's child's play!

You can even refine the keyword overview with filters. At the top of the overview, you can click on the Filters block and set certain filters. For instance: you can filter on keyword difficulty or a minimal amount of searchvolume (just to name some things).

This way, you can find keywords with a lot of potential. Keywords with atleast some volume, the right search intent and a low keyword difficulty.

Everything I just told you about finding the right keywords, is also possible based on URL's. So you can use the URL of a competitor within KWFinder to find out on which keywords this URL ranks for, on what position, estimated organic visitors and so on. Very helpfull if you want to dive deeper into the performance of your competitors and see where you can outperform them.

I've added a screenshot below with 1 of my Dutch competitors for my Dutch doggy-blog. On the left you can see the keywords that URL ranks for, the keyword difficulty and on the right other websites ranking within Google.

There is not a lot more I can tell you about how KWFinder works. As soon as you get an account, you'll find out how easy it works.

What I like and don't like about KWFinder

As I said earlier, I try to use KWFinder on a daily basis. This way I can make sure that I discover various keywords gems and incorporate those gems on my websites.

I would like to show what I personally like and don't like about KWFinder. I try to be as transparant as possible, because I want to give you the right advice.

What I like
  • KWFinder is to the point. It is an incredibly easy tool to use, there are no distractions or unnecessary options and it looks very neat.
  • As you will discover later in this KWFinder review, the pricing is very low. It is accessible for everyone.
  • You can use KWFinder even for keywordresearch that you've done in the past. Just upload the list of keywords to get most up to date data.
  • The data that KWFinder is build upon, is being updated daily with millions of keywords.
What I don't like
  • KWFinder is fully in English. That's not a problem for me, although I'm Dutch, but I can imagine not everybody is good at reading English.
  • When analyzing the URL's of competitors, it is possible KWFinder won't show you any data. I've experienced this a couple of times and the solution was to grab another URL on a higher level (this is not always possible tho)
  • I never really had to make use of the client support, but  you can only reach them by mail or chat. Other keywordtools do have client support with the phone, so that's something I don't like about KWFinder.

Which alternatives are available?

You can imagine that KWFinder isn't the only tool on te market. SEO has been around for years and therefore also keywordtools.

To make the right comparison, I've selected two keywordtools I used in the past. I looked primarily at keywordtools and not SEO tools, to make a honest comparison.

KWFinder VS Google Keywordplanner

I used to love Google Keywordplanner (like 5/6 years ago). It was a, and still is, a free tool. You only need a Google Ads account.

The only thing is that Google has downgraded the tool over the past couple of years. Less information is available and Google also mixed keywords together.  You can think of semantic keywords, singular and plural keywords, and so on.

Because of all these changes, I haven't used the Google Keywordplanner in years. It is still free, but that's it.

KWFinder VS Ubersuggest

Ubersuggest, from Neil Patel, is also a very well known tool. This tool is constantly being updated with fresh data, new features and you can use it for free (with limits).

For instance: I sometimes use the Ubersuggest chrome extension if KWFinder doesnt show any data.

The functionalities of Ubersuggest have approved a lot over the past few years.

You can find keywords, keyword suggestions, keyword difficulty and paid difficulty, but also which competitor ranks on certain keywords (including number of backlinks and domain score)

To view al this data, you do need a paid subscription. So the free version of Ubersuggest doesn't come near KWFinder and the paid version comes close!

Final verdict: KWFinder review

At this point, you should've learned the following things:

  • What is KWFinder?
  • What do you use KWFinder for?
  • How do you use KWFinder?
  • What I like and don't like about KWFinder
  • Which alternative tools are available?
  • And last but not least a surprise at the end (this has yet to come)

I've covered all these topics in my KWFinder review, except for the pricing and a nice free bonus for you!

As you can read, I'm a big fan of KWFinder and everything that this tool does. It does exactly what you need from a good keyword tool, work pretty simple, looks clean and neat.

But okay..nice to read such a positive review, but this tool is probably super expensive?

It certainly isn't, as you will find out below!

KWFinder Pricing & Exclusive bonus!

Mangools Basic costs €49,- each month, Mangools Premium costs €69,- each month and Mangools Agency costs €129,- each month.

As you can see in the image above, every plan comes with it's own features. I'm not going to describe them, as you can find them above.

What is the right KWFinder plan for me?

This depends on how often you're going to use this tool and how much data you need.

If you want to use it for 1 or 2 websites, take Basic

If you work on the marketing department of a big webshop, use Premium
